We remember

Art to the Art of Warfare

“The victory has two Katyushas”. This is how a theatricalized concert was called which was held in the Rossiya concert hall in Moscow and which marked the first stage in a large-scale three-year action devoted to the 60th anniversary of our people’s victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

The concert was a tribute to the memory of the soldiers of art who fought selflessly using their specific weapons: the song, the word, the dance. Actors, writers, journalists formed their own fighting front, helping people to uphold their souls, patriotism, faith, strength and courage. And they helped them not only to survive but to advance towards victory.

The concert was given in honour of the artistes’ front-line groups which gave a total of 1,500,000 performances during the war.

Fighting against the enemy were two Katyushas: the famous multiple rocket launcher and the highly popular song composed by Matvei Blanter.
